Meet Eric W. Siegle - New York City Lawyer

Eric W. Siegle received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the State University of New York at Binghamton in 1990 and a Juris Doctor from Brooklyn Law School in 1993. Mr. Siegle served as an Assistant District Attorney in the Queens County District Attorney’s Office and Office of the Special Narcotics Prosecutor and served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney. These appointments have provided Mr. Siegle a solid foundation in state and federal criminal law, from the perspective of a prosecutor, which has enabled him to expertly represent clients in various types of criminal matters. After years of honing his trial and appellate skills while working for the state and federal government, Mr. Siegle became an associate at the firm of Wilson, Elser, Moskowitz, Edelman & Dicker. There he skillfully handled numerous important cases involving federal civil rights, professional liability, commercial litigation, and personal injury matters.

Over the years, Mr. Siegle has successfully represented individuals and corporations charged with a myriad of federal and state crimes, including various complex conspiracies to commit securities fraud, mail fraud, health care fraud, insurance fraud, wire fraud, tax fraud, money laundering, identity fraud, bank fraud and narcotics distribution. Mr. Siegle has tried numerous cases as a defense attorney and former prosecutor and is proud to boast that he has never lost a criminal case that resulted in a verdict. Mr. Siegle is keenly aware of which cases to fight and which to resolve through a plea bargain or settlement and uses his cunning insight to advise clients of what strategy to pursue to ensure the most favorable outcomes.

Meet Jonathan D. Sims - New York City Lawyer

Jonathan D. Sims received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Michigan in 1990 and a Juris Doctor from Emory School of Law in 1993. After excelling at his scholarly pursuit of the law, Mr. Sims became an Assistant District Attorney in Queens County where he prosecuted many criminal cases of all types. As an esteemed member of the Organized Crime and Rackets Bureau for the Queens District Attorney’s Office, Mr. Sims was responsible for overseeing and prosecuting large scale investigations into organized crime. Mr. Sims was part of a team of attorneys that brought the first Enterprise Corruption indictment in Queens County. Mr. Sims was responsible for drafting and litigating eavesdropping affidavits providing him with knowledge and expertise in this arena that few practicing attorneys possess. Additionally, Mr. Sims served in a highly coveted role as a Special Assistant United States Attorney in the Eastern District of New York. Mr. Sims investigated, supervised, and successfully prosecuted a long term investigation into organized criminal activity occurring at John F. Kennedy Airport. For his exemplary work on the Airport investigation, Mr. Sims received numerous awards from state and federal agencies, including an award for Superior Performance as a Special United States Attorney which was personally presented by Janet Reno, Attorney General of the United States.

Mr. Sims’ extensive investigatory experience has served him well in defending complex state and federal investigations, including defending matters involving electronic eavesdropping by the authorities. In one noteworthy case, his dogged pursuit of justice led to the dismissal of an indictment against his client who had been charged with murder after allegedly signing a full confession. It is believed that this case was the first case in Queens County where the District Attorney’s Office conceded that the confession was in fact “false,” and, accordingly, dismissed the indictment.

Mr. Sims prosecutorial and investigative background has also provided the tools to establish him as a formidable civil rights attorney, who has won millions in awards for clients who have been wrongfully arrested, maliciously prosecuted, and/or physically injured by the police. In one recent case, Mr. Sims successfully sued the Kings County District Attorney’s Office for malicious prosecution and obtained an award of $750,000 on behalf of a client who was falsely accused of rape.
